A couple weeks ago, Shane and I finally got a little adult time and had a nice date night thanks to Madison Hotel. We have stayed near the Madison, walked by it and glanced at it adoringly over the years, but we had not had a chance to visit it yet. Let me tell you, this place screams southern charm mixed with a whole lot of rock n roll. The Madison is in the heart of downtown, and is in perfect walking distance to everything. From the moment you walk through the doors, the place is anything but ordinary.
Our room had an amazing view of the Mississippi River, the bridge and Mud Island. There were SO many windows in the room. We had lots of natural light, and a big, nice room to relax in. We had a sitting area and a separate living area.
The lobby and each hotel room is filled with guitars and headphones where you can play anywhere. It is SO perfect for us because Shane plays the guitar. When we first got married, he wouldn't travel anywhere without his guitar. Now he leaves it at home, but this is perfect for the guitar lover or a newbie like me to get to play a little guitar while on vacation.
After Shane got all of his guitar playing out of his system, we went to dinner at Eighty 3. Oh my goodness y'all, it really was amazing. We started with oysters, and then I had duck for my meal. I added on a side of cauliflower and brussel sprouts, and they were honestly some of the best I've had in my entire life. It was so good, we couldn't resist swinging by for breakfast there the next morning too. = )
After dinner, we walked around downtown for a bit, and then we eventually headed upstairs to the Twilight Sky Terrace. I cannot believe this little gem has been hiding up on the rooftop of the Madison Hotel. It was perfect. The view was amazing. They had music, food, drinks and the perfect view for it all. We got lucky because it didn't rain, and it actually wasn't hot out. The temperature was just perfect and we relaxed up there for quite a few hours and even met some fun out of towners. I had always heard the rooftop of the Madison Hotel was one of the best rooftops in Memphis, and it certainly was. Whether you live in Memphis like us or you're visiting from out of down, you will definitely want to check out the Madison Hotel, Eighty 3 and the Twilight Sky Terrace. It was perfect for a Memphis staycation!
