School is out, summer is almost here, and if your kids are anything like Leighton, you're bound to be spending A LOT of time outdoors this year!  As much as I love the zoo, botanic garden and children's museum, those can get really expensive really quickly.  But there are so many fun and free things to do this summer with your kids too; so I've rounded up 5 fun summer activities for kids to do outdoors:

1.  Play with bubbles in the yard.  There is nothing like some good backyard summer fun, and it's one of our favorite summer activities for kids!

2.  Play in a hammock.

3.  Play with sidewalk chalk in the driveway.

4.  Get some sheets, clothespins and find some low hanging branches, tables or anything else you can use to build a fort.

5.  Have a car wash in the driveway.  Kids will love mimicking you, playing in the water, and it is also great to teach them a little responsibility.  = )

No matter what your summer plans are, make sure you keep you and your children protected from mosquitos and ticks.  Guardian is plant based and non-toxic, and will keep you and your family protected from mosquitos and ticks.  It repels mosquitos for up to 8 hours and ticks for up to 4 hours.  We remember the sunscreen and we remember the snacks and all the toys, but we don't want to forget the mosquito and tick repellant.  It is just as important this time of year!

As you prepare for summer activities this year, keep Guardian on hand.  It lasts between 4-8 hours, so we love that you don't have to apply it often!  My other favorite thing about using Guardian is that it's great for people with sensitive skin (like Leighton and me.)  And since it is made from natural, plant based products, I don't have to worry about putting it on Leighton's skin.  What are you plans this summer?  What are some summer activities for kids your family loves to do? Have you tried Guardian at Kroger yet?

We've done the first 4 on your list, but I never thought to get them in on washing the car - great idea! All of my kids are artistic so sidewalk chalk art was always great. It's really important to use their imaginations so we had a dress up box that we enjoyed using and filling. Right after Halloween is a really great time to fill it with clearance items.

I do the bug-spraying for Vivian and I too. Such great ideas and the cutest family photos. Love that you and Leighton's sandals are matching. Her romper is so cute, where is it from?
